2009, Oh 2009!

Things that I learnt in 2009:

  • Aamir Rocked in Ghajini!
  • Kolkata Knight Riders Don’t.
  • Life is Monotonous.
  • Life is Crazy.
  • Life is interesting. (Only on a certain occasions..)
  • Or always?
  • FC Barcelona are not from this planet.
  • Shahrukh is obsessed with his work. He needs to rest.
  • New age Cinema Is Dev. D. Or is it Wake Up Sid? Or Rocket Singh?
  • Slumdog Millionaire did not deserve the 7-8 [I am not sure how many it got]Oscars it got.
  • Or did it?
  • Board Exams can be nerve-wrecking.
  • I can do well in the Board Exams. Could still have done better than I did. Shit!
  • Social-Networking is not my life.
  • Or is it? (Fuck!..)
  • Love can be tough, and hard to sustain.
  • ‘Love’ itself.
  • I have changed for the better. Changed what though?
  • Parents can sometimes be a Pain in the ass.
  • Parents are God. Or Gods? (Grammar, dumb-asses?)
  • Rooney is better than Ronaldo as a person.
  • As a footballer too!
  • I am destined to achieve something ‘Big’. I have known this for a long time. But how to achieve that? (Tell me? Anyone?)
  • It is damn difficult to adjust to new surroundings.
  • I am born for something Better. Probably, the Best!
  • U2 are the Best Band in the world.
  • Green day are the second Best band in the world. Or Coldplay?
  • Pritam Rocks!
  • A virus can ruin your life. Ditto for Malwares, Spywares.
  • I befriend people very fast. When my mood is right i.e.
  • I am a Footie freak. Re: My Twitter Account.
  • I am Me.
  • I love you.
  • Physics is tough. As is Chemistry.
  • Even 32 GB of memory in my Mobile is not enough for me.!
  • Some films should just remain a Trailer.
  • 3 Idiots is not FPS [for starters its Five Point Someone]. I mean its not a complete adaptation of the Book.
  • India does not need the bifurcation and trifurcation of states. We do not need Telengana! We do not!
  • I ask way too many questions. I also answer them myself.
  • India needs to pull up its socks to organize a successful Commonwealth Games.
  • Hindi Music is still melodious. Case in point, Tum Mile.
  • Salman can still kick everybody’s arse when he is in his mood. Case in point, Wanted.
  • Guy Ritchie can make anything cool.
  • Avatar is the Movie of the Decade. Period. PERIOD!
  • But The Hurt Locker is the Movie of the Year. (I am such a jackass)
  • Tiger Woods is not my idol.
  • I don’t change my idols every week. Seriously don’t.
  • I am bad.
  • I am good.

Okay. So as you might have already noticed, I am still as dysfunctional as I was. I still need to learn a lot of things. I am still not sure if I learned anything at all in 2009. It was the strangest year of my life, by far.

Enough! Peace now!

Yours Sincerely

Dipanjan Das

Hi, readers, this is Steve Morgan, a Man Utd Fan since the dawn of my senses. I have been asked to be a Guest Blogger, by Dipanjan. My Guest Article is about CR7 and his departure from Old Trafford.

The long goodbye that began in earnest in summer 2008, with Real Madrid’s entreaties, and the drip-drip of public pronouncements from sloganeers, has finally played itself out. The fabled shirt is vacant once more.

For those who mourn the passing of one of the modern game’s finest talents, a word of advice: don’t dab your eyes as he dots the ‘I’s on his new contract. Memories are wonderful and precious things, but that, ultimately, is all they are. They will not win trophies, nor push us forward; and the quest for fresh challenges has always kept Sir Alex one step ahead of the chasing pack.

Manchester United, as the boss has always said, are bigger than one man. A constant summer of constant speculation would have benefited no-one.

We’ve been down this road before, of course. We were told we should never have sold the goals of Ruud van Nistelrooy; that we would never replace David Beckham’s dead-ball expertise, or transplant the lungs and heart of Roy Keane anew. We did and we have. There will be new names to conjure with, new songs to learn and sing.

Of course, we will miss Ronaldo’s quest for invention; yes we will smile fondly as we recall the astonishing, buck-toothed, spaghetti-haired kid who bewildered Bolton’s defence for 29-minutes six summers back. That initial cameo was a performance so dripping with wit and wonder, those fortunate enough to have seen George Best in the flesh were moved to make comparison. Six summers: half a career.

Will he burn brightly enough to score 42 goals in a season in Spain? Who knows? Will he miss the arm of Sir Alex, the paternal, protective touch in those long, dark moments of the soul? Probably. Will we miss him? Yes, of course – those capable of pinging in 40-yarders to order are in short order. But we can and will move on. The adventure continues.

Goodbye Cristiano and good luck. You will live in interesting times; the times you leave behind may yet prove to have been the most interesting.

Regards,

Steve
